The Columbia River. Located a short walk from the banks of the Columbia River, Northern Lights Lodge is the perfect “jumping-off-point” for exploration and enjoyment of this magnificent and veritably undiscovered recreational paradise. China Bend boat launch is located only 2 miles from our Lodge. Fishing. More than 30 species of game fish thrive in Lake Roosevelt, including Walleye, Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout, Kokanee Salmon, and Smallmouth Bass. Though they can no longer be caught, Lake Roosevelt is also home to the White Sturgeon, North America’s largest, fresh-water fish, which can grow up to 1800 pounds! Boating. Large and small craft from houseboats and yachts to canoes and kayaks tour the recreation area. Lake Roosevelt provides 23 public boat ramps, as well as gasoline, water, sewage dump stations, and other services in developed areas. Boat and kayak rentals: www.lakeroosevelt.com.
Swimming and waterskiing. Enjoy numerous beaches for swimming. On our normal calm summer days, waterskiing is the glassiest and smoothest you’re ever likely to experience.
Abundant Wildlife, National Forests, and other Public Lands. View bald eagles, black and brown bear, cougar, bobcat, whitetail deer, wild turkey, and many types of waterfowl. Our county provides some of the best whitetail deer and turkey hunting in the Northwest!

Red Mountain Ski Resort, located at Rossland, British Columbia, is rated as one of the best ski hills in North America. Twenty minutes from Northern Lights Lodge, our guests may enjoy groomed or untouched powder snow, great lift ticket prices, and NO LIFT LINES! Rossland is one of Canada’s highest cities at over 3300 feet. Fabulous skiing, quaint shops, and excellent dining are some of the reasons Ski Canada Magazine voted Rossland to be “Canada’s Best Ski Town.” Also arrange back country skiing, heli-skiing, or a cross-country skiing trek. There are several Championship Golf Courses within an hour’s drive of Northern Lights Lodge.
